More From Happy Parents with Sleeping Babies

"This class is a “must have” for any expecting or new parents. The videos in the class were short, easy to follow and I could watch snippets quickly between feeds. I’ve learned the value of the flexible schedule, how to help her go to sleep faster and I’m a great sleep detective when trying to figure out why she’s having trouble with sleep. I’m much less stressed now that our baby falls asleep so much faster and I have more time in my day."

- Nancy I., Newborn Daughter

"I found Helping Newborns Sleep to be very educational as a first time mom who didn’t know much about baby’s sleep and how it fits in with other things that are important for baby. Now I have confidence in my knowledge of baby’s nap times, how to help him help himself sleep, and when are the best times for baby to sleep. This has resulted in more consistent, longer naps but more importantly I am less anxious/irritable by the end of the day because baby and I have had some successes and I’ve had some time to myself."

- Karen J., Newborn Son

"I would say, Helping Newborns Sleep has been positively life changing, and one of the best parenting decisions I made for myself and my child. I view this course as a preventive tool for parents. Meaning, the course can help parents prevent their baby from learning habits and preferences that cause both the parents and the baby stress. Parenting is stressful enough as is, you'll want the knowledge from this course in your toolbox."

- Sarah M., Newborn Daughter

Frequently Asked Questions

How long with the sleep teaching take?

You should be seeing meaningful progress within 7 days and well on your way by 10 days.

Please note all babies, children and toddlers are individuals and no method or course can guarantee exact timelines or results.

Is this a super strict plan that's hard to follow?

I feel “fixed schedules” where 9 am is always nap time can set a parent up to fail, because they are based on the idea that you can control how long a child naps for. You can’t always do that.  I teach a flexible schedule.  This will teach you parenting skills to handle any sleep situation.  My clients have said that it is not super strict, and surprisingly easy to implement. These parenting skills that I will teach you will enable you to handle any sleep blip down the road.

I am worried about letting my baby cry. Should I be?

This is a completely natural feeling, no parent wants to hear their child cry.  I sure didn't. While the drive to sleep is biological, the way we sleep is a learned habit. Currently your baby has a set way of what sleep looks like. Commonly this looks like falling asleep with help from being rocked, a pacifier or feeding.  Whenever you try and change that your baby will protest that they way she falls asleep is changing and doesn’t know what to do.  This will manifest with tears. The amount of tears is related to your ability to be consistent in delivering the same message and your baby's temperament. There are two methods in the class - one in the room and one outside of the room.  I'll walk you through the pros and cons to each. I have experience to know what is too much crying.

A randomized controlled study by Gradisar et al, 2016, showed that short term sleep training including tears is safe and effective and had no long term affects on bond and attachment.

My baby has reflux is this class for him?

The Helping Babies Sleep team works with many reflux babies; however, you want to be sure that your baby’s reflux is under control before you decide to work on sleep teaching. Every parent can benefit from using our sleep techniques in their routines regarding sleep patterns and habits, but to make major changes, you will want the reflux to be under control before moving into sleep techniques. This ensures you will get the best results.

If you think your baby may have reflux but doesn't have a diagnosis, you might consider looking at our 1:1 packages that are catered towards your situation for your best results.
